BSP-Phytec-phyCORE-i.MX31

i was in mainline development in my own board, as i just received email from phytec support that they did not release newest version of kernel later than 2.6.19.2 as shipped with my board. i require later version, 2.6.22 or more, with sort of specification matched with what am i doing now.

Looking for Freescale’s kernel patch and source but i just got nothing. eventually, patching kernel is really architecture dependent and not about how to compile and get the kernel image, but also hardware compatibility factor is the most thing to be considered.

first i try to guess and make a diff between both source and i got more than 100 MB diff file and i assume that will be a lot of works more than applying patch. i just found specific driver patched in kernel source and it must be coming from Phytec. then i look into BSP and found some patches. this gonna be silly decision to apply this patch to newer kernel version. so now i just got stuck.

last evening i received email from Prabu with link to download Freescale 2.6.22 kernel source with patch and complete step by step build instruction (here, i am really nut)

here i go, this is Freescale patch series :

after a couple of days i applied the patch, and it seems carelessly, i don’t even review the code, and the internet is very low and i just hate to be crapped like this, so the kernel is seems a garbage. the patch runs down carelessly, and nothing happen, too much error that must be reviewed, too many things must be recoded. and also debug it. is this possible doing this stuff by myself ? me and only me, as usual, i say ; yes i do.
